Jo McAllister

Working in fine silver, using Stone Age tools percussively as hammer and anvil, Jo McAllister creates textures reminiscent of both earthly and lunar landscapes. Wollen felt and grosgrain ribbon contrast with the opulent minimalism of her metal, imbuing these works with a sense of times past as well as present. Continuing
her use of simple forms, McAllister has started to incorporate vintage camera lens, constructing jewellery with metaphysical functions: lunacy lockets, rings for observation, dreaming devices based on 16th century designs for telescopes.
